William Harber has served with the Lock Haven Fire Department since 2003. He provides leadership to 1 career, 2 part-time, 20 volunteer personnel. He has served as Chief since July 1st 2014. Chief Harber supervises fire prevention, emergency medical delivery system, fire operations, and public education/fire investigation for the company.
Prior to serving here, Chief Harber spent nearly ten years moving up the ranks within the Lock Haven Fire Department serving as a Firefighter/EMT as well as a Driver/Operator. He is a very proud second generation firefighter – His father spent fifteen years with the Citizens Hose Company #1 of South Renovo.
His educational background includes a Certificate in Business Management from the Keystone Central School District as well as a Certificate in Paramedic Studies from Lackawanna College. He is certified through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency at the EMA County Basic Level as well as a ProBoard/IFSAC certified Fire Officer 2, Fire Inspector 1, Hazardous Materials Technician, Vehicle Machinery Technician, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Incident Safety Officer, and Driver/Operator Aerial and Pumper. He has been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 2005. He is also an AHA CPR Instructor as well as a Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Non-Suppression Local Level Instructor.
In addition to being the Station Chief, he currently holds the rank of Department Chief and Driver/Operator within the Lock Haven Fire Department. He is also employed as a 911 Dispatch Supervisor with the Clinton County Department of Emergency Services.
